Julie and her high-school sweetheart husband have the uncanny ability to procreate every time their guard slips an inch. Julie is a stay-at-home mom trying to make ends meet, while her husband works two jobs to keep the money coming in. The couple struggles to move forward in life with three kids and no money, but everything comes to a head when baby #4 becomes a possibility.
Marty is struggling at home with her husband of only three years wondering what happened to the attentive man she married and why this slob is in his place. Marty is beginning to doubt their relationship and her husband's love, especially since he expects a maid instead of a wife. A man from her past comes into the picture showing Marty a glimpse of what she could be missing.
Beth, the most successful of all the friends by becoming a doctor, is also the one friend who has a secret big enough to devastate them all. Beth maintains the strong independent doctor façade, keeping her troubles to herself and forgetting the strength of friends who surround her. All the while, Beth remains lonely, with the exception of another doctor who dedicates himself to helping Beth with an illness.
A SUMMER IN SONOMA is a breath of fresh air! I laughed, I cried, I related strongly with a few characters and I enjoyed every page. Wonderfully done!
Book Summary
They've been best friends since seventh grade. But this
summer, teetering on the threshold of thirty, four women are
going to need each other more than
ever.
Cassie has sworn off romance
after yet another bad date. Yet deep down, she's still
looking for Mr. Forever. A long-haired biker doesn't figure
into her plans, so where's the harm in touring the back
roads of Sonoma on a Harley with Walt
Arneson?
Julie married her high
school sweetheart—who can get her pregnant with a mere
glance—too young and now wonders how her life became all
about leaky faucets and checkbook balances. Maybe love isn't
enough to sustain the hottest couple in
town.
Marty's firefighter husband
has forgotten all about romance, and an old flame begins to
look mighty tempting.
Beth, a busy
doctor trapped in a body that's betrayed her yet again, is
becoming a difficult patient and a secretive
friend.
Life can change in an instant…or a summer.
And having old friends to lean on can only up the chances of
happily ever after.
