Event planner Sophie Winston is hosting events for her sister Hannah's (third!) wedding. Although Sophie isn't a fan of Craig, the groom (how could she be when he's so secretive?), she's determined to make this a wedding to remember. She gets her wish in more ways than one when the groom's ex-wife (from a previous marriage unknown to Hannah's family) is found murdered near Sophie's house.

The wedding is off! It's on again! No, it's really off! This goes back and forth as Sophie tries to learn more about the groom's ex-wife. Some of Craig's family members surprise everyone by showing up unexpectedly, even though they weren't invited to the wedding. A pro planner, Sophie can make seating adjustments look easy, but something's amiss in Craig's family. Too bad Detective Wolf Fleishman, Sophie's would-be beau, is giving her the brush-off.

Just what secrets is Craig keeping? Why didn't he tell anyone about his family? Why does Hannah's second ex-husband show up days before the wedding, claiming to want her back? Will the wedding ever get pulled off? Will Natasha Smith, Sophie's longtime rival, stop making last-minute "fixes" to wedding events? Is Sophie's family about to have a killer join their ranks?

Second in the Domestic Diva mystery series, THE DIVA TAKES THE CAKE is sure to thrill cozy fans. Recipes are included as a bonus. Ms. Davis has written an engaging heroine with a wacky family that just might drive her completely batty. I really, really wanted to see Sophie slap down the irritating Natasha. Maybe sometime in the future Natasha will see the error of her ways. Or not. Give this one a try if you're a cozy mystery reader.
