As anyone who has a family knows it only takes a moment for something awful to happen. We can only hope and pray that when tragedy strikes we come out the other end if not one hundred percent safe and sound, at least on the road to it.

Roxanne Rustand opens her newest book SAVE THE LAST DANCE with both a break-in at Kate Mather's vet clinic, and as if that weren't enough her husband Jared has a horrific accident, and is fighting for his life.

As the investigation into the accident unfolds facts begin to come to light that might not necessarily be pleasant for Kate to face. When faced with uncertain situations one hopes that they can turn to their family, but for Kate this just isn't possible. She's estranged from her own family, and Jared's mother has never accepted her as a proper spouse for Jared. Kate and Jared do have a young adult child, but Kate doesn't want to burden her with more than she has to.

As Jared fights for his life, Kate remembers back on the life they led, and the obstacles they have overcome. Both Jared and Kate are proud people and take their responsibilities seriously. So seriously in fact, that for a time it appeared that their jobs might destroy their marriage.

Will Jared regain consciousness and tell Kate what truly happened? And what will Kate decide about their future?

While SAVE THE LAST DANCE didn't make me cry, I can see where it has definite tearjerker potential. I recommend that when you sit down to read SAVE THE LAST DANCE you have a good block of reading time, because you will not want to put it down.
