Gillian Keyes is both a solder and a healer. She is also trying to build a relationship with the Master Vampire, Aleksei Rachlav. While in Romania with Aleksei, she and the other soldiers are dealing with the aftermath of war between the Dracula's band and those who follow Aleksei.

In the midst of all this Gillian is asked to take on some Paramortal clients who have need of her special expertise. Gillian is a certified sex therapist for paramortals. Aleksei is having a little trouble with his lover getting involved with anyone else. In all his four hundred years, he has never come across a situation like this. Not only will Gillian have to help her clients, she have to face a dangerous enemy from the past.

Imaginative, compelling, and thrilling are all good adjectives to describe this story. My first quibble with it has to do with the sheer number of creatures involved. You have Egyptian mythological creatures, Greek mythological characters, vampires, werewolves, fairies, elves, brownies, gargoyles, one of the ugliest creatures ever seen, Jack the Ripper, as well as the phantom of the opera. It felt a little like the author was trying to include every type of character she'd ever researched. My second quibble was the amount of sex and the orgies all inspired by the glamour of the phantom.

If you like urban fantasy and erotica, this will be right up your alley.

Book Summary

And soldier and paramortal psychologist Gillian Key finds herself with a new group of clients. One is straight out of legend—a disfigured, masked man who haunts a Parisian opera house— and who becomes Aleksei’s rival for Gillian’s heart.
