Environmental activist Ben Maki has devised an ingenious plan to acquire clean drinking water from the Antarctic Peninsula. The Soldyne Corporation has invested millions of dollars to implement his plan, but their motives are not as pure as Ben's. Even though the world is in desperate need of fresh drinking water, fears of global warming have some environmentalists and the scientific community up in arms about messing with the polar ice cap. There are just too many things that could go wrong -- as Ben soon finds out.

When unusual things start happening at the Raney Station research facility in the Antarctic, the scientists fear for their lives. It seems a deadly enemy has surfaced and no one is safe. With their main priority now being to escape the facility, they can't believe Soldyne is going forward with a plan to break off a giant iceberg for processing into drinking water. Are they insane?! Maybe -- but they're also greedy.

Debut author Karen Dionne has scored a big hit with this timely and compelling thriller that's riveting from the very first page. The storyline is as disturbing as it is chilling when you think that something like this could actually happen. Characters are compelling and plot development is fast-paced. Be prepared to be fearful of the outcome.
