Thomas Cavendish, the Duke of Wyndham, accepts the responsibility to his title and carries out his duties with pride. To counter his irrational father, the previous duke, Thomas maintains a reasonable manner with a reputation of always making the right choice. He accepts with resignation the fact that everyone cedes to his wishes due to his powerful title. When his ill-mannered and cruel grandmother locates a long-lost grandson, Thomas enters into a nightmare. He will lose everything that makes up his identity. He's always been the duke; he knows nothing else.
Amelia watches in horror as her father claims that she is contracted to wed the Duke of Wyndham. If Thomas does not carry that title, then she will have to marry Jack. Amelia wants Thomas, with or without a title. Now she must convince Thomas of that fact.
Leave it to Ms. Quinn to surprise readers with a unique companion book to her previous THE LOST DUKE OF WYNDHAM. The Lost Duke was told from Jack's point of view, while Mr. Cavendish is told from Thomas' perspective of the same event. The books are mirror images of one another. Ms. Quinn has surpassed herself with these two winning novels.
Book Summary
Amelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember. Literally. A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting. And waiting. And waiting...for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her. But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all...
It's true. He doesn't. Thomas rather likes having a fiancée—all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay— and he does intend to marry her...eventually. But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas’s world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham. And if Thomas is not the duke, then he’s not engaged to Amelia. Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love...with his own fiancée!
