Jean Johnson's Sons of Destiny series seriously rocks. I have enjoyed each and every story. I can't begin to choose one brother over another thus far. All I know is I'm eagerly waiting for the rest of the series but yet I'm sad that this is the fifth brother's book already.

Trevan is so desperate for female companionship along with his younger brother Koranen that they try to figure out how to use the courtiers as companionship but it's just not working. Trevan is so angry he shapeshifts into a hawk and starts flying around Nightfall Island. He can't believe what he stumbles across at the other end of the island. It's a young woman who looks like she has something to hide.

Amara is tired. She has been swimming for days to protect her sister Arora and her from being hunted down by mages. They even had to flee their homeland. Amara was even training to be queen of the Shifterai. She only knows she must protect her sister who carries a great secret within her body.

When Amara finds out that she and Arora have landed on an island full of mages, she panics but Trevan and his brothers and their wives do everything to make sure Amara and Arora are welcome to stay at Nightfall Island without danger. They don't want or need what Arora has. Can they finally convince her?

I read this intriguing story way too quickly and now I have to wait even longer for the next story. I am anxious to see what Jean Johnson has in store for Arora and Rydan!

Book Summary

Amara is wary of mages––they chased her out of her homeland. Yet there is something about the mage Trevan of Nightfall that Amara can’t resist. But can he be trusted with her most fiercely guarded secret? Courting such a pretty yet prickly outlander won’t be easy, but Trevan is determined to try. She may be fierce, proud, and from a different culture, but after all, he is the Cat, and none but the most fascinating and challenging of women could satisfy him…
