Broken Heart, Oklahoma, may have lost most of its humans, but Patsy Donahue still has her hair salon. Although a lot of her clients are of the furry variety -- werewolves love a good grooming. Patsy keeps the salon open because, yeah, she's a vampire, but being a beautician is all she's ever known. And she's able to make enough to keep a roof over her teenaged son's head, food on the table (well, for him, anyway) and clothes on their backs. Life may not be what it used to, but it's not all bad -- at least it wouldn't be, if she could just rein in her son.

Being the mother of a teenager creates enough stress to kill a person. Good thing Patsy is already dead. He might be trouble, but he's hers and nobody, but nobody better mess with him. Unfortunately, he's not the only one in danger. Patsy may be the walking undead, but she can still be killed -- and that may be coming sooner than she thinks unless something is done soon. And that sexy beast Gabriel -- boy, he could give a girl a run for her money and then some, and that's just judging by his looks. But Patsy thinks there's more to him than meets the eye and if she's right, he may be the only thing that can save her and the rest of Broken Heart.

Wow, what a trip! BECAUSE YOUR VAMPIRE SAID SO is the best thing I've read in ages. It's my first by Ms. Bardsley, but it definitely won't be the last -- I have a shopping trip planned already. I can't wait to read the others in the Broken Heart series, and then I'm going for her entire backlist. This lady can flat tell a story. The characters are funny and lovable, the setting perfect and the subject -- well, honey, you don't get any better than vampires and werewolves. Hope your pencil is sharpened, Ms. Bardsley, I think you're going to be writing for a long, long time. An excellent read!
