VOODOO MOON by Lori Handeland A serial killer is on the loose in Devil's Fork, murdering residents without leaving any physical evidence except for a voodoo doll found near each victim. FBI agent Dana Duran doesn't believe in voodoo, but she does suspect the owner of the local voodoo shop, Julian Portier, of knowing more than he's admitting. He's mysterious, haunted, and quite inconveniently, the sexiest man she's ever met. As the facts lead Dana to conclusions her rational mind refuses to accept, her desires push her into the arms of the man who may hide a killer's mind behind a seductive façade.
BREATH OF MAGIC by Cheyenne McCray The D'Anu witches and D'Danann warriors are pairing up to hunt Darkwolf, who wishes to help his evil master, Balor, return to power. Sydney and Conlan locate Darkwolf's lair, but they're captured and locked in a walk-in refrigerator. As they wait for rescue, the close quarters and long hours allow them to act on their shared passion, at least until their rescuers catch them in a compromising position. Sydney's mortified, but romance is quickly set aside when a pack of Balor's demons attack, and the battle for the future of the world begins.
ANY WITCH WAY SHE CAN by Christine Warren Miranda is tired of being the ordinary human in a magical family, especially now that she's nearly 33 and still single. So, she decides to do something about it. She casts a love spell out of a book, and suddenly finds herself flat on her back in the entry hall of her disapproving grandmother's house, twenty-four hours in the past, with the man of her dreams staring down at her in shock. Who knew magic could be so tricky?
NO REST FOR THE WITCHES brings together four talented authors, but it's an odd compilation. I found it particularly jarring to move between the light-hearted, hilarious comedies of Mary Janice Davidson and Christine Warren, and the dark, action-suspense thrillers of Lori Handeland and Cheyenne McCray. Fans of these four authors will certainly enjoy each novella, but I don't think they belong in the same anthology. Plan your reading order accordingly!
