Kate MacKenna and her two sisters, Kiera and Isabel, have grown up never knowing their late father's family. Now that their mother is also gone, they have only each other to depend on and are very close. All three are intelligent and highly motivated. Kiera is attending medical school to become a doctor and Isabel is starting college. Kate is an entrepreneur who started her own business while still in high school. Kate grew her business from afar as she completed her master's degree in Boston. She also made her mother a partner to handle the day to day financial affairs. Now, Kate is home and working on implementing her plans for expansion.

When a good friend invites her to a reception at his estate near Charleston, Kate is thrilled to be able to promote her line of fragrance products. The last thing she expects is to be knocked unconscious by an explosion that nearly kills her. Upon her release from the hospital, Kate is shocked to learn that her late mother used her business as collateral for a sizable loan, and it's balloon payment is due in three weeks. Then her best friend, Jordan Buchanan, calls from Boston begging her to be with her as she undergoes breast biopsy surgery in a few days. Of course, Kate rushes to her side and shares Jordan's joy when the tests are negative. Kate is totally exhausted from a week of roller coaster emotions. Though Dylan isn't quite convinced Kate's in any real danger, he humors his sister and shows up at Kate's door. Dylan is the last person Kate wants in her house, especially with the strong sexual vibes they share for each other. Dylan isn't about to let Kate deny the feelings that are growing more intense every day.

When word comes from Savannah of an unusual inheritance, it doesn't take long for Dylan to realize that Kate's in more danger than anyone ever thought. Someone is actually out to do her permanent harm. Will he be able to keep her alive long enough to find out who?

All total, there are six Buchanan brothers. We've already met three of them in HEARTBREAKER (Nick), MERCY (Theo) and MURDER LIST (Alec). Now Dylan takes center stage, and he's just as, sexy, dangerous and courageous as the others. Kate has met her match and then some. The patient, careful way Dylan handles Kate and her feelings, as well as protecting her and her family, makes him a true hero. Garwood's combination of taut suspense, surprising plot twists, witty humor and searing passion make this a book you won't be able to put down. At least, I couldn't, not until the climactic resolution.
