When possessed vampire Lorcan O'Halloran went on a killing rampage in the town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma, he ended up killing eleven people. In order to save them, all eleven were turned into vampires and Eva LeRoy, single mom to a teenager and town librarian, was one of them. When her would be killer, now cured of the infection that caused him to kill her, shows up right before sunrise and collapses on her porch, instead of leaving him in the sun to fry, she pulls him into the house. Sure, he may have killed her, but looking at him just makes her hot.

Ever since she became a vampire, Eva has became a magnet for animals everywhere. Now her vampire powers are becoming stronger. She's discovered she can zombify people and make them follow her commands, and she can also speak telepathically to people and animals who can take human form. Something more is going on in the town of Broken Hearted though. The evil wraiths who infected Lorcan with the virus that caused him to go on his murdering rampage attempt to kidnap Tamara, Eva's daughter, making Eva a very angry vampire. Now Eva has to deal with her daughter, her daughter's vampire hunting boyfriend, her lust for Lorcan and the wraiths trying to infect the town. What's a vampire to do?

Every time I tell myself I'm the type of girl who only enjoys books in the third person, I get a book that proves me wrong. DON'T TALK BACK TO YOUR VAMPIRE may be written in the first person, but that does nothing to detract from the amount of fun I had reading it. I thought it was a hilarious oddball vampire comedy with lovable characters that make being bitten seem like a very good time. I can't wait for the next Broken Heart adventure. Hopefully the first book in the series, I'M THE VAMPIRE, THAT'S WHY, will be enough to tide me over till the next adventure. And I promise to never again say that I don't enjoy stories written in the first person. Michele Bardsley has proven me to be a liar in that regard, and I can't be more thankful.

Book Summary

Eva LeRoy, Broken Heart, Oklahoma's librarian, got "vampified" when everyone else did: during a rogue vampire's feeding frenzy. But books still make her undead heart beat-and, strangely enough, so does Lorcan the Loner, the vampire who killed her...
