Gordon and Billy Buchanan were the closest of brothers. They worked together in the family logging company and there were no secrets. That is until Billy dies after a freak logging accident. It's determined that Billy's blood would not coagulate and he died due to the excessive bleeding. Gordon knows something is afoot, and he soon discovers that Billy has been taking a new anti-balding drug, Triaxcion. After some research, Gordon discovers that people with type-A blood may have coagulation problems when taking the drug. Triaxcion is manufactured by one of the largest pharmaceuticals company, Veritas Pharmaceuticals. Gordon decides to stop Veritas from distributing Triaxcion at any cost.

Bruce Andrews, CEO of Veritas Pharmaceuticals, is a smart and imposing man who's moved up the ranks in the drug industry by looking for opportunities at every corner. Bruce is a man driven by power and money. He's ruthless and works tirelessly to push his new drugs through the FDA. In this endeavor, he's not opposed to cutting corners or greasing palms to get his way. Bruce knows that some of his drugs have side effects that are serious, but he also feels that the ends justify the means. How far will he go to push a drug and tap into a lucrative market? The answer is unclear.

As Gordon pursues information proving Triaxcion is not only dangerous, but that Bruce Andrews is aware of it, the United States is facing a terrorist attack from a deadly and fast-moving virus. As the terrorist demonstrates how ruthless he is, the U.S. government's key players (NSA, FBI, CIA and Homeland Security) are brought in to decide how best to handle the situation. The Group of Four decide to go to "Big Pharma" to find the quickest cure. In steps Bruce Andrews with the cure, but are things as they appear?

Weaving the story between Big Pharma, terrorism and greed, Buick caters to people's fears today. Who do we trust, how will terrorists get us, and when does greed outweigh the goals of healing professions? LETHAL DOSE is a fast-paced, energetic, and relevant read. While predicable in its conclusion, the novel presents you with a realist, although cynical, view of corporate greed and power.

Book Summary

Veritas Pharmaceuticals is a corporate powerhouse. But many of the drugs Veritas puts on the market are extremely dangerous, even potentially fatal—and Bruce Andrews, CEO of the company, is well aware of it. Andrews isn’t about to let that or anything get in the way of Veritas’s profits. Gordon Buchanan is devastated when his brother dies. And very suspicious. Could the drug his brother was taking have caused his death? The more Gordon investigates, the more evidence points to Veritas. His lawyer warns him that a lawsuit against the huge corporation would only ruin him, but if the law won’t help him bring down this deadly Goliath, he’ll have to do it on his own.
