Desperately needing to heal her broken heart after her husband's tragic murder during a botched robbery, Melinda Monroe runs from her life as a midwife/nurse in a busy Los Angeles hospital to a job opportunity available in the small town of Virgin River. Unfortunately, getting her BMW stuck in the mud and the leaky shack waiting for her is too much of a change. After only one night, she plans on leaving the next morning,

When the disheveled blonde beauty walks into his bar for a cup of coffee, Jack decides to do his part in talking Melinda into giving Virgin River another chance. He begins by making improvements to her shack while she deals with the newborn infant left on the doorstep of the medical clinic. As Mel becomes completely engrossed in everyday life, she's unaware of the roots she's planting in this quaint small town. She can only hope it's enough to repair her shattered heart and dreams.

VIRGIN RIVER, the first book in Robyn Carr's Virgin River series, is beautifully written and a superb romantic love story. If the reader is looking for a sensational feel- good book, this is definitely it. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment.

Book Summary

Welcome back to Virgin River with the book that started it all…

Wanted: Midwife/nurse practitioner in Virgin River, population six hundred. Make a difference against a backdrop of towering California redwoods and crystal-clear rivers. Rent-free cabin included.

When the recently widowed Melinda Monroe sees this ad, she quickly decides that the remote mountain town of Virgin River might be the perfect place to escape her heartache, and to reenergize the nursing career she loves. But her high hopes are dashed within an hour of arriving—the cabin is a dump, the roads are treacherous and the local doctor wants nothing to do with her. Realizing she’s made a huge mistake, Mel decides to leave town the following morning.

But a tiny baby abandoned on a front porch changes her plans…and former marine Jack Sheridan cements them into place.
