Miss Emma Dove, secretary to publisher Viscount Marlowe, has submitted several manuscripts on etiquette, which her employer continues to reject. He swears no one is interested in such a boring subject. Emma knows differently and toils away until she swears her latest effort is her best. Confident that he'll agree, she's devastated when he again declines. Upon questioning him, Emma realizes he never read her book. Knowing that at 30 years of age she'll never marry, Emma's last hope at having a fulfilling life will only happen if she pursues her writing career. She abruptly quits her job to follow her dream.

Harry, Viscount Marlowe, cannot believe it when the reliable Miss Dove calls him a liar and a scoundrel and quits her job. His office soon deteriorates into chaos. Since she was so unassuming and efficient, Harry always took her for granted. However, that has now changed. Harry plans to use his considerable charms and rakish behavior, whatever it takes, to entice her back.

Harry pursues Emma and turns her life upside down. A spinster in a critical society, Emma has suppressed her feelings and hidden behind decorum, but Harry sets her on fire. Emma must now choose between respectability and a passionate affair.

Ms. Guhrke delivers a delightful battle of the sexes with two very appealing characters. The story brims with clever dialogue and humor. This romantic frolic is great for a cozy evening read.

As a publisher, Harry finds reading etiquette books akin to slow, painful torture. Besides, he can’t believe his proper secretary has the passion to write anything worth reading. Harry decides it’s time to teach Miss Dove a few things that aren’t proper. But when he kisses her, he discovers that his former secretary has more passion and fire than he ever imagined, for one luscious taste of her lips only leaves him hungry for more…
