Sophie Harrington's mother has run off with the golf pro, her father has cut off her source of income and her godmother has sold her home from under her. With no proper job, nowhere to live and no money, time begins to take on a new importance as she frantically juggles a series of temp jobs while she tries to get her life under control. Dog walking for the arch-grouch Gabriel York might have been the last straw, if he hadn’t offered her his spare room. (Of course he didn’t know about the cat until it was too late.)
