Miss Gwendolyn Davies, matron of an orphanage, is a desperate woman. With only four days to Christmas, she has no money left to provide a Christmas dinner or gifts for the children in her charge. But nearby lives the wealthy Earl of Cwm Rhyss, so who better to ask for a contribution, even if rumor has it that he once discouraged similiar petitioners with his shot gun?
