When Stevie’s father bails on her birthday dinner celebration, her BFF Kat realizes it’s the perfect opportunity to save their disappointing day. They can travel into the city together and have an adventure. Together they come up with a plan to stay the night at their friend’s house. And they sneak into the city without telling their parents.

Kat can’t wait to tell Stevie of her plan for the night, but Stevie isn’t excited about the plan. They run into Stevie’s step-sister who demands their help. But in helping her out, they end up locked out of her apartment in the middle of New York City with a dog that isn’t theirs and without their belongings.

That’s when things go sideways. With everything going terribly wrong, Kat and Stevie get into a massive fight on the subway platform right after Stevie’s phone breaks. In the rush to get on the subway, Kat gets left behind. With no phone and no money, neither girl knows what to do or how to solve their argument.

They go their separate way in New York City and try to unravel their feelings. Each girl has an adventure that helps them realize their mistakes and they both discover some hard truths about themselves.
