Cade McKenzie knows trouble when he sees it and Sterling/Star Parson is that with a capital T. It doesn't take long before he realizes that with this woman there is NO HOLDING BACK because something about her intrigues him. Despite his family, despite the work he does, he wants to know this woman. When secrets from her past come out he is more than hooked. Sterling Parson is more than a simple truck driver. As a teen, she had been kidnapped and very close to being used in a trafficking house. She was lucky to escape but with nowhere to go and no one to trust she worked her way up to learning to help other women also escape. How could she possibly guess that the one bar that she felt safe, and maybe just a bit protected, could be the answer to everything she never thought she wanted.

All I can say is WOW! I have been a fan of Lori Foster for a number of years, (Body Armor, The Ultimate, Edge of Honor, and her Summer Resort series are favorites) but NO HOLDING BACK is grittier, sexier, and deadlier than anything I have read from her. But it is also strangely warm and refreshing.

Sterling (Cade calls her Star) had a very rough life due to a druggy mother and the kidnapping and her subsequent escape. She ran and was given a little help from an unexpected person, which I found completely heartwarming, then she turned around and began to help other women who were escaping abusers. Cade had escaped a rather cold father, Parrish McKenzie (though getting a bit of the past given to us makes him a little more tolerable) by joining the Army, but upon his discharge, his father set him up with the bar.

His family consists of his father; a brother, Reyes a gym owner, and their sister Madison is a kick-butt IT person and then there is Bernard the man who takes care of all of them. They all use their places of business or talents to gather information about any wrong doing, especially those dealing with the abuse of women and children. It is a secret enterprise and a personal one for the father.

Marked as book one of the McKenzies of Ridge Trail series, I hope that means there will be more as there are a number of characters that really need a happily ever after. If you are looking for a book that will grip you, make you cry, make you laugh and make you want more then you really need to read NO HOLDING BACK. Hang on for this completely unexpected hard-hitting ride!
