Heather Graham takes great care in plunging readers into the life of her characters. THE FINAL DECEPTION does precisely that from word one to the last as you get caught up in the lives of Craig and Kieran, Kieran's family, the danger and intrigue, and love.

The Fireman, a notorious killer who claims voices made him commit his worst crimes, has confessed and now sits in prison. That is, until he escapes, drawing our heroes into his tangled web. F.B.I. Agent Craig Frasier and his fiancee Kieran Finnegan find themselves on the hunt for the escapee when another death, similar to his particular style, happens just hours after his escape. Kieran had interviewed him, and she is sure there is something else going on. Is it the Fireman? A copycat? Or someone else with a twisted agenda and no issue taking advantage of a troubled man.

THE FINAL DECEPTION is the fifth of Ms. Graham's New York Confidential series. Fans of this particular series will once again find themselves at Finnegan's Pub, caught up in the family's antics and protectiveness, the investigations and it's procedures, with a couple trying to make a life together - all mixed into the sights and sounds of New York. Even having read the other four in the series, I was still amazed at how much more I learned about Craig and Kieran and thought it was cute how they ended up with a puppy. Craig can be such a softy when he isn't worried about Kieran getting involved in dangerous cases. The danger and intrigue do, of course, have a sweet and steamy romance side as the couple looks toward the future and move into a condo together.

There is a lot happening in THE FINAL DECEPTION that will have you wondering where Ms. Graham possibly came up with all these twists and turns. As a fan of mysteries, I always try to come up with the answer before the final reveal, and I am happy to say I got - well part of it - right before the reveal. You will have to read for yourself to find out who the real bad guy (or is it guys?) is. You will not regret one moment of your reading time spent with this compelling mystery.

Also, fans of this series will be thrilled with the happily ever after that finally comes for Craig and Kieran. What else can I say but grab THE FINAL DECEPTION and enjoy.
