She does not run far... she runs to a place of comfort her Gran's house. Gran offers Chloe the use of a bungalow that she has inherited and wants to renovate. In exchange, Chloe will oversee the renovations. Her first night in the bungalow Chloe gets a head start on the renovations when she takes a sledgehammer to a wall that is intended for demolition.

The mess she makes is not as big as she first thought it was, but she does find a locked metal box hidden in the wall. What she finds in the box sends her on a journey that her beloved Grandmother does not want her taking, but which Chloe feels has to be taken in order to better understand the emotional make up of her family.

The journey of family discovery is not an easy one for any member of Chloe's family, but one that is important to them all. In the end, Chloe discovers that what really matters is the love for family that we should all have, and that each person loves their family members in the way that only they can. Be it good or bad family is what makes each of us who we are.

Ms. Rendahl writes stories of family that have me thinking of my own family, and how we functions as a unit. Her writing style makes it quite easy for a reader to place herself in the story, and root for each character to get a happy ending. I look forward to reading her next release.
