Martha is the feisty mastermind behind the "League of Pensioners" who had previously pulled off an astonishing art robbery before skipping across the Atlantic pond to let things quiet down in Sweden while their hit the casinos in Los Vegas. Now, after six months, life is getting a little boring for Martha's fellow pensioners: Oscar "Brains" Krupp, Bertil "Rake" Engstrӧm, Anna-Greta Bieke and Christina Åkerblom. This would never do as their motto Is "if you are bored, you are not living!" This intrepid League of Pensioners would rather rob banks to get money to improve the care for geriatric seniors living in long term care facilities than sit in rocking chairs and knitting socks.

After an unexpected entanglement with some diamond robbers, the elderly gang of friends decide to capitalize on events so they can go back to Sweden. Determined not to sit and end her days in an underfunded care facility, Martha is definitely the leader who knows her troops well as she keeps them motivated with the right mixture of treats and exercises to keep them fit. Can they pull off another zany crime and not end up in prison for the rest of their lives?

THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO STRUCK LUCKY AGAIN! Is a follow-up novel to the internationally acclaimed THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO BROKE ALL THE RULES cleverly written by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg, a Swedish author who had previously published 16 other books in Sweden in addition to these two (book is translated into English by Rod Bradbury from the original Swedish). While the first book definitely sets the stage, I found THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO STRUCK LUCKY AGAIN! also reads nicely as a standalone story.

Martha Andersson is a great character and I took an instant liking to her as she is both intelligent and intrepid. There is also a great cast of secondary characters and I particularly enjoyed reading about how they developed their relationships with each other. For me, the best part of THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO STRUCK LUCKY AGAIN! Occurs when the five friends show how their background skills can help them be creative and use MacGyver know-how in tackling problems and overcoming challenges. They are particularly funny when they fool others who are full of stereotypes and prejudices about elderly people. Still, they also have their senior memory moments as they leave behind some very important things in their getaways and they have to resort to more criminal activities as a result.

With her quirky humour and witty comments, Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg has a winner with THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO STRUCK LUCKY AGAIN! Her plot is filled with some badass characters and enough dicey situations that will keep you turning the pages to see how this "geri-active" geriatric gang can handle the action without collapsing. The romance is slow and there are some predictable spots, but the action is as hot and fast as a motorcycle gang! So, get lucky and enjoy a little mayhem with THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO STRUCK LUCKY AGAIN!
