In this installment in the Blood and Moonlight series, an unidentified werewolf appears to be the bad guy in need of being put to justice. However, in this perilous paranormal world of Cynthia Eden's, nothing is as it appears to be. The night comes alive in BETTER OFF UNDEAD with all manner of furred, fanged, or magical beings—both good and evil, along with everything in between.

With an out-of-control werewolf using New Orleans as his hunting ground, and a potential threat from a new vampire, the excitement and level of danger is ramped up to an insane degree. The third threat comes from Jane herself, since she is a vampire-in-waiting and a possible ticking time bomb. The tension waiting to see if everybody's worst fears are realized about Jane adds an interesting dimension to an already fascinating story. With so many moving pieces and shady characters, I love how Jane and Aidan can always count on each other for unwavering love and support.

The bond between Detective Jane Hart and her alpha werewolf mate Aidan grow even tighter in BETTER OFF DEAD. As with the previous book, I am struck by how having the story told from alternating perspectives adds so much to BETTER OFF UNDEAD. Hearing Jane and Aidan's fears and desires make them seem more real and make me more invested in their story. Throughout the course of BETTER OFF UNDEAD, it quickly becomes apparent how of one mind Aidan and Jane are. Both Aidan and Jane are equally tough and determined to protect the ones they love most. Both characters also want total honesty in their relationship, but both lie by omission for what they believe to be good reasons. One thing I love about this couple is that they don't sweat the small stuff and don't let these lies of omission and their mutual efforts to protect each other obscure the deep love they have. The all-consuming love between Aidan and Jane makes this Blood and Moonlight series so spectacular.

BETTER OFF DEAD is ambrosia for any paranormal romance junkie. In BETTER OFF DEAD there are almost as many answers as there are perplexing new questions, and intriguing new layers to favorite characters for the reader to discover. I find well-meaning, but master of poor execution, Garrison endearing and hope he fairs well at the end of the series. I'm dying to see how Jane and Aidan get their happy ending in the third installment.
