Zoe Chase is thrilled to be selected as a food truck for the Mobile Mardi Gras celebrations. Her biscuit bowls are her way to a rosier future. She isn't quite so thrilled by the food inspector who keeps hanging around watching her and giving her bad marks. With her father being elected as King Felix, Zoe is kept as busy at night as she is in the day, attending the balls as her father's partner. Her life is complicated enough without finding a body dressed as death at one of balls. When she calls the police, the death is kept quiet and the detective proves to be remarkably elusive when Zoe tries to find out more about the young man.

Even though she really doesn't have the time, Zoe gets caught up in the investigation. As she finds out more about the young reporter, her family troubles will increase. Her father is attacked and Zoe is threatened. Meanwhile, the PR rep who has organized the food trucks has disappeared.

J.J. Cook continues the Biscuit Bowl Mysteries with a tribute to Mardi Gras in FAT TUESDAY FRICASSEE. The nature of the secret societies that run Mardi Gras make exposing the killer much more difficult. Cook gives the readers an insider perspective on the secret societies and the power they exert. FAT TUESDAY FRICASSEE is a complicated mystery, which delves into both Mardi Gras and the newspaper industry. The relationship difficulties between Ollie and Delia make the food truck a difficult work environment. Luckily, Zoe's relationship with Manuel is solid. J.J. Cook does a good job of hiding the identity of the killer until the very end of the story with an ending that will leave the reader gasping with surprise.
