THE SISTERS CLUB is an intriguing story about four women who form a great friendship that leads to a sisterhood of sorts. Three of the women have biological sisters but there is distance between them. The fourth woman in the group lost her twin sister to breast cancer. These four women form a bond and become involved in each other's lives and their personal problems, and give each other advice whether wanted or not. That's pretty much how sisters work. They can get on each other's nerves, give unsolicited advice, and pretty much be a pain. I like how Lauren Baratz-Logsted shows the dynamics of a sisterhood, be it born or built. This story deals with self esteem issues, emotional and physical abuse, infidelity, loneliness and closing yourself off because of grief.

Cindy has a biological sister who is in and out hospitals. Lise has a biological sister who travels around the world to dangerous places to help improve the lives of others. Diana is an ocean apart from her sister and is having marital problems. Sylvia is the oldest and lost her twin sister to breast cancer. The first meeting between the ladies is on the rocky side because they all show up because of an ad placed by Diana thinking they are forming a book club. Sylvia is the gruff one and very intolerant and she dispenses advice that each of them follows. From that moment on things take on a life of it's own.

These four women form an unlikely friendship and go through some ups and downs. They show the lengths they will go to save one of them from abuse. Since she is the oldest, Sylvia takes on the role of a mother and makes decisions that she feel are best for everyone. They are quirky and funny sometimes but have some serious issues that they deal with. They may not have been born biological sisters they do indeed build a sisterhood in their Sister Club.
