Paul Hoffman wrote The Left Hand of God back in 2010 and fans went crazy. He then wrote book two and received 50/50 feedback. I read book one and loved it, but I have to admit I lost track of the series and missed book two, so when I saw book three I thought why not if it's awesome I'll go back and find the second one.

Though I probably won't go find the second one, I enjoyed the final book in the trilogy and it had enough background that I don't need to find book two. Still the first was such a masterpiece that Paul Hoffman has yet to reproduce another book of that quality. With THE BEATING OF HIS WINGS though Paul Hoffman has given you a great story and tied up the lives of characters you came to love in The Left Hand of God.

The premise of THE BEATING OF HIS WINGS, has the hero Cale in a situation where he must stop the Redeemers who believe they must destroy God's greatest mistake, mankind. Now if he if could only stay healthy enough to get the job done before the Redeemers kill even more innocent people. Cale along with his friends and allies manage to put up a brilliant defense. The battles and stories of these people keep you turning the pages until the end, when you discover how their stories end.

My only problem with this book is the appendix and the intro before the story starts. I am not quite sure what the author was trying to do with that. The whole thing seemed unnecessary.

THE BEATING OF HIS WINGS by Paul Hoffman is a great ending to what was an awesome beginning.

Book Summary

Following the bestselling novels The Left Hand of God and The Last Four Things comes the final installment of Paul Hoffman’s stark, epic trilogy. Thomas Cale has been running from the truth…. Since discovering that his brutal military training has been for one purpose—to destroy God’s greatest mistake, mankind itself—Cale has been hunted by the very man who made him into the Angel of Death: Pope Redeemer Bosco. Cale is a paradox: arrogant and innocent, generous and pitiless. Feared and revered by those who created him, he has already used his breathtaking talent for violence and destruction to bring down the most powerful civilization in the world. But Thomas Cale’s soul is dying. As his body is racked with convulsions, he knows that the final judgment will not wait. As the day of reckoning draws close, Cale’s sense of vengeance leads him back to the heart of darkness —the Sanctuary—and to confront the person he hates most in the world….
