Kimberly Kind is trying to get beyond her roots. Born from a crack addict mother who's disappearance has caused her father to turn to alcohol. HOLD ME IN CONTEMPT is not your average romance novel. It has a more edgier and urban storyline that starts out slow in the beginning and rapidly steamrolls from there to the conclusion. So if you are looking for the night in shining armor so to speak, then this isn't the book for you. Wendy Williams' characters are complex to say the least. Built with many layers, this novel slowly peels back the layers and you don't truly see what makes them tick until the end. This is the first time I have read anything from Wendy Williams and will certainly be interested in see where she takes Kimberly and King's story next.
