Trixie is really getting into the running of the family diner in Sandy Harbor. This year she is going to rent out the cottages, this is the first time in years, that all of the cabins have been rented. Trixie's first renter is an elderly man who wants a certain cottage, number eight, wants no one to disturb him, and wants his meals at certain times. Trixie is a little shocked by this, but since he is paying cash, she wants to make sure everything is just right.

Years ago, Claire had gone missing. Her family always rented out cabin eight. So Trixie thought it was kind of strange that David Burrows wanted to rent only cabin eight. Claire's body has been discovered, and all the memories that Trixie had of Claire come back to her. Clare was always kind to Trixie even though she was much younger.

Ty is the police officer for Sandy Harbor. He is also Trixie's next door neighbor. Trixie has helped Ty in the past to solve crimes. So of course she wants in on this one. Ty doesn't want her help, afraid that she might get hurt. But of course, Trixie is going to help one way or the other.

The next shocker that comes up is that David is killed, where else but in cabin eight. While investigating his murder they find out that he is Claire's younger brother. So someone must have it out for the family. Trixie knows the clues must be in the cabin. Even though Ty has warned her about going into the cabin, Trixie does it anyway. Trixie finds Claire's dairy. As she starts to read it, she finds out that Claire was pregnant. So of course her next step is to find out who the killer could be. Trixie doesn't remember Claire having a boyfriend at the time of her murder. The one clue she finds in the dairy is that Claire referred to her boyfriend with only an initial B.

So many clues, so little time to solve these murders as people are canceling their rentals for the summer. Just what Trixie needed A SECOND HELPING OF MURDER.

A SECOND HELPING OF MURDER is the second book that I have read by Christine Wenger. This one was better than the first. I never guessed the murderer until the end. Christine has combined the first book into this one. So if you didn't read the first one, you do not get confused. I also liked that she includes recipes for some of the dishes that are made in the diner. Hopefully the next one will be as great as A SECOND HELPING OF MURDER.
