LOVE COMES HOME then introduces Jerry, uncle to another lad, who enquires how long Davey's had his glasses and offers a free eye test at his opthalmology clinic. He discovers that the boy's sight is deteriorating fast. Finding the reason why is paramount. Sadly, the lad is gradually going blind.
Greg is at first devastated but at a family party day in the locality he meets a blind man with a German Shepherd dog trained to lead and warn him, who gets on fine. Greg has more in common with another visitor Tom - they're both gay. Greg got out of his mistake of a marriage and managed to get custody but he can be self-conscious. A week later, Greg and Tom go on a civilised date, but Davy falls and hits his head in Greg's absence. What can the future hold for this genuine, caring father?
Andrew Grey writes as always in an easy, approachable style, making his characters the guys in the next door house or office cubicle. We understand their problems and wish them well. He researches his topics, so this outing includes baseball with a ball which makes a beep to help with hitting it and bases that buzz. What a brilliant invention! There are audiobooks, but Davey is going to have to figure out eating utensils and navigating around the house. There's a convoluted and scary sounding possible cure - not for the faint-hearted.
Andrew Grey has written many other novellas about gay romance, including Cardio Conditioning about a gym and A Wild Ride about rodeo bull-riders. I like that his stories like LOVE COMES HOME tend to put family first and the characters always feel very real. I recommend his work to romance readers and those with an interest in the particular topics covered in each book.
