Businesswoman Alexis Worthington still has to prove herself to her exacting father and sneering brother. She's handed the assignment nobody else wants - sign up a rodeo cowboy for a theme calendar and a cologne. Only, the bronc rider in question had a great run for two years but is now thinking of retirement. His sponsorship contract with the Worthingtons expires in ten days and he has no intention of being helpful. Alexis can be stubborn, but will it work?

ALONE WITH YOU is how it'll have to be after Will Tanner refuses to fly with Alexis to the photo shoot. He hates flying so driving them from Montana to Houston in his elderly truck-trailer is the only way to travel. Really, if Alexis hadn't blown so much credit on her Armani suit, on top of her student loan, she wouldn't even consider the issue. The good-looking cowboy will suit the calendar, but he's not the kind of company she normally keeps. She doesn't even date, let alone eat, sleep and drive with a man.

To start with Alexis is not that sympathetic a character but we can see pride going before a fall. Tanner by contrast is a realistic portrayal of modern dilemmas for the reader. He signs autographs for kids and smiles at the pretty ladies, but he knows that at thirty-three it's time to call it a day and leave the injuries to younger men. Speaking of whom, look at all the riders tweeting their scores, chatting about Facebook pages and marketability while drinking protein shakes instead of beer. The times they are a changin' in rodeo as everywhere else.

The trip is a series of misfortunes for Alexis as her credit card is declined when she tries to get a motel room, she has to let Tanner buy her dinner and the trailer bed is lumpy. Not to mention she keeps trying to deny her attraction to the bronc rider, who behaves like a perfect gentleman. He's got family issues on his mind, and a life on the rodeo circuit doesn't lend itself to a relationship.

I thoroughly enjoy Debbie Rawlins's realistic tales of the outdoors. This latest in her Made in Montana series is a change from her usual. There's poker playing, and characters who come and go on the journey, but mainly it's an adult romance on a road trip. Grab ALONE WITH YOU and buckle up for a scorching ride.
