Logan Cavanaugh thinks he's an expert on women, after all with three sisters he can read them like a book through their faces and body language. It seems he definitely met his match with Destiny who is about as stubborn as they come, even somewhat eclipsing his own stubbornness. There's something about her that just gets to him. Is it that with her sister's death she is now utterly alone, with no family, and seemingly few friends?

Destiny is focused on her job as a CSI investigator. His father holds her in high esteem as a coworker in his lab. But Logan's police sense tunes in to Destiny's lack of emotional reaction to finding her sister Paula's body and driven to find the killer Destiny's demeanor is getting more rigid, if that is even possible. With a very large extended family, well actually two but that's another story, Logan can't even begin to comprehend what it's like to have to cope with such a devastating loss and to make matters even more complicated Destiny is determined to investigate her sisters murder even though that is totally frown upon by the department.

Logan's father knowing how stubborn and determined Destiny is has Logan partner her and hopefully between these two experienced, and especially in this case, highly motivated investigators find the killer. At first they seem to be an unlikely pairing. To Logan it's an open and shut case of suicide but Destiny can't and won't accept that. She knew her sister. Logan realizes that as typical -- no one ever thinks their loved one capable to taking their own life. Destiny's arguments began to soften Logan's resolve. He knew his own sisters very well and without any doubt could see him as their champion.

Destiny feared losing her barely existent hold on her emotions. She was the only one Paula could depend on to get to the truth. Destiny was finding herself depending more on Logan and his seemingly unending support network. She bounced ideas off Logan and didn't realize that slowly but surely was winning him over to her side, meaning that now both were questioning the initial finding that Paula's death was a suicide.

Just where would the investigation take them. Surprisingly down a very murky trail. Great who dun it with a lot of heart -- just my kind of mystery. Ferrarella constructed a well thought out drama that makes for an excellent summer read. Don't miss CAVANAUGH'S SURRENDER!

Book Summary

"The killer is still out there."

Crime scene investigator Destiny Richardson receives the shock of her life when she finds her sister dead in a bathtub. Detective Logan Cavanaugh thinks it's an open-and-shut suicide case. But Destiny's convinced her sister was murdered. And she's not about to have some arrogant cop tell her otherwise-even if he is the sexiest man she's ever met.

Logan knows it's pointless trying to convince Destiny that it's against the rules to work on a relative's case. The crime scene investigator is as stubborn as she is gorgeous. Besides, Logan wouldn't mind getting to know her better. When it becomes apparent that there's a serial killer on the loose, Logan is bent on protecting the woman he's falling in love with.
