Two Regency historical romances in one volume for the first time.

The Golden Feather
Caroline Aldrich regretted her impetuous elopement when her weak husband lost every last penny to his name trying to keep up with his fast companions with their high fashion and even higher-stakes gambling. After his death, she finds the sole asset remaining is the deed to a gambling hell. Thus begins her masquerade as Mrs. Archer, to earn enough gold to pay for her innocent sister Pheobe's remaining years in school, fund her coming out, and if she is careful, enable Mrs. Archer to fade into obscurity while Caroline builds a life in society.

Justin Seward was a reckless youth, who paid for the harm his actions caused his family with a long exile in the heat of India. When he returns to take his place as Earl of Lyndon, he finds his young brother doing his best to fill the feckless shoes he left behind. When he encounters Mrs. Archer, there is something that intrigues him in her forthright manner, but she is forgotten when he meet Caroline Aldrich, and is enchanted by her honesty.

The Rules of Love
Roselind Chase works hard as headmistress of a finishing school for young misses, and even harder as "A Lady", author of A Lady's Rules for Proper Behavior, a book taking society by storm. It is not enough to cover the cost of her younger brother's thoughtless purchases and gambling debts, however, and no matter how strongly she speaks to him, he continues in his heedless ways. He is encouraged by the actions and attitudes of Lord Morley, a rake who has set himself to break every rule in her book, indeed, to not only break them, but to demolish them to the point that society will no longer pay the rules any heed, and cutting into Roselind's sorely needed profits.

Amanda McCabe always gives good value for the time spent reading her novels, and these two gems are no exception. Fun, frivolous romps, well-written and worth revisiting.
