Twenty years in the future, when the list for receiving artificial limbs or replacement organs is extremely long and the items are very hard to come by, industrial companies have come up with the perfect solution. The artificial organs and limbs, called artiforgs, are made of metal and plastic that work with precision and include certain perks, such as enhanced vision or GPS units. Malls no longer contain cute little shops where one can find a trinket to adorn their home, but now house Credit Unions that loan you an artiforg for a reasonable price. As long as the payments are current, the carrier can keep it or a repo is carried out.

The repossession of an artiforg is an artful skill, if the person doing the job cares about such things. Since all of the units are equipped with a tracking system, in case the owner becomes delinquent, all a Bio-Repo operative has to do is "ping" the unit and he (or she) can discover if the carrier owes money or not. Most repo specialists do not own an artiforg themselves, but when one of the best in the business has an unfortunate accident and ends up with one, he is unable to keep up with his own payments and is now on the run. His past career in the military and his success with being a Level 5 repo-man keeps him hidden, but for how long?
