Lacy Maguire is never going to have sex again. That's what her mother does, and the last person she wants to be is her mother. She's not going to fall into bed with the FedEx man, the local vet, or her scumbag ex-husband. Besides, how hard can it be to go without something you're not any good at anyway?

Chase Kelly is not a bad cop. Sure, everyone seems to think he is, but it's all a setup. The questions is, why is his new partner doing this to him and how can he prove that he's innocent? And more importantly, how can he stay alive while he figures it all out?

The last thing that Lacy figured she'd find in her backyard was a wounded and wanted man; and the last thing she expected to have happen was to have that same wounded and wanted man force his way into her home.

Chase knows it's not right to take advantage, but he needs help and rest. The fall from that bridge and finding his way up the river really took a toll. Now convincing Lacy that he's innocent and that he's not going to hurt her is going to be a real challenge. He has to convince her to let him stay, and the fact that she's easy on the eyes is just a bonus.

Lacy knows that letting him stay is not the best idea, but she can't seem to help herself. He's innocent; she's convinced. So what if he just happens to be gorgeous? That doesn't mean that she has to sleep with him, right? And even if she did, that doesn't turn her into her mother, does it? Besides, this is just her way of doing her part for society, and protecting an innocent man.

As time passes and the investigation into Chase's "death" goes on, Chase and Lacy grow closer to one another, both physically and emotionally. But when it comes down to it, can they get past the circumstances that brought them together? Can Chase get over the loss that still haunts him? Can Lacy put her fears of turning into her mother and her issues of inadequacy aside? Can love really conquer all?

DIVORCED, DESPERATE, AND DELICIOUS is a wonderfully fun read. The humor element that is brought out in both the situation and the environment is truly unique and refreshing. My only complaint would be that the resolution to Chase's work situation is a bit anti-climactic. The big showdown scene was great. However, the reader knows from the very beginning that he didn't do it; I just wish there was a bit more detail into how it was revealed to the other characters that he didn't do it. I think that would have been a great piece of the story. All in all, a really fun read with amazingly fun humor mixed in. One and ¾ thumbs up!!

Book Summary

Ever since photographer Lacy Maguire caught her ex playing Pin the Secretary to the Elevator Wall, she's been content with her dog Fabio, her three cats, and a vow of chastity. But all that changes when the reindeer-antlered Fabio drags in a very desperate, on-the-run detective who decides to take refuge in her house--a house filled with twinkling lights and a decorated tree. (Okay, so it's February. but she has a broken heart to mend, a Christmas-card shoot to do, and a six-times divorced, match-making mother to appease.) For the first time in a looong while, Lacy reconsiders her vow. Because sexy Chase Kelly, wounded soul that he may be, would be an oh-so-delicious way of breaking her fast. Now, if she can just keep them both alive and him out of jail...
